Other Notes 10/23/2026

DOGGY DAY OUTINGSummary of volunteer notes from outing on 10/12/26: Hopped right into the car. Quiet in the car, some panting. Pulled moderately with some zig-zag walking during the walk around Lake Temescal. Pulled hard and lunged towards a squirrel. Pulled toward dogs, but did not lunge nor bark at them, including a small dog which pulled toward and barked at him. Easy to steer with verbal encouragement and leash guidance to keep him walking. Was alert and pulled to try to keep going when we tried to get him to take a break with us on the lawn. Lay down very briefly when prompted but got up again. Greeted a couple and a man politely as they let him sniff and then offered a treats. Took treats gently. Sitting outside at Starbucks, he barked at a man with a guitar approached us as he talked with rather gravelly voice. Calmed down gradually as the man sat at the next table and played his guitar to us. Sniffed at an another man who approached us and extended his hand to Roddy to sniff. Let the man pet him with a loose body and without barking.Inside Pet store, dog pulled mildly as he walked through the store. Pulled forward towards another dog in the store, but moved along with handlers. \Some pacing on the car ride back.Overall, he seemed so much less reactive to dogs during our outing outside the shelter. He was not fixated on the dogs and followed verbal encouragement and leash guidance to continue walking. He was very interested in the squirrels, and needed a more assertive leash guidance to break the fixiation.
