Medical Condition 10/17/2026

Diagnosis: Periodontal Disease, 2/4

This pet has been noted to have mild to moderate dental disease. This may include tartar buildup on the teeth, gingival (gum) inflammation, worn teeth, and/or chronically chipped, fractured, or missing teeth. At this stage, the dental disease may not be causing significant discomfort, but dental disease can progress over time and may eventually lead to pain, infection, loose teeth, or other oral health problems. Due to limited resources, Oakland Animal Services is unable to provide dental cleanings or further dental treatment. We recommend following up with your regular veterinarian to assess your petbx00s oral health and establish an ongoing dental care plan. Your veterinarian may recommend a professional dental cleaning under anesthesia, dental radiographs, and additional treatment if any significantly diseased teeth are identified. In some cases, extraction of affected teeth may be recommended. Ongoing dental care is an important part of your petbx00s long-term health. This animal should have a general health exam with a veterinarian after adoption so that any additional testing, treatment, or preventative dental care can be discussed. OAS is not responsible for additional care or expenses after adoption.

Dog-To-Dog Evaluation 10/16/2026

S: Dog-dog evaluation with a female tester dog. Tester dog selected due to her ability to politely greet and not escalate conflict.

O: At the gate, dog was calm and non-reactive. Inside the coop, dog walked directly to the tester. Stopped to briefly sniff, then dropped a play bow. Dog pawed briefly at the tester and tester gave her a correction by snapping and vocalizing. Dog moved back, then approached again. Body language was very relaxed as the tester repeatedly yelped and snapped at her for unknown reasons.B

A: Gentle, Medium Energy, Medium Contact, Neutral Social Dynamic, Takes Corrections, may Avoid Conflict, Playgroup Size 2-3.

P: Recommend placement with appropriately matched dogs, or placed as a solo dog with appropriate dog friends.

Description

Meet Cora, a lovely senior Husky mix with a gentle, easygoing nature! At 11 years old, this beautiful girl has a calm presence and has been comfortable with staff and volunteers handling, petting, and walking her at the shelter. She’s also shown a relaxed, friendly approach to meeting other dogs, responding calmly when another dog set boundaries.

Cora could be a wonderful companion for someone looking to share life with a mature pup. She may do well with a compatible canine companion or as a solo dog with opportunities to make dog friends.

Cora has some dental disease, so her new family should plan a veterinary visit to discuss her dental health and any care she may need. If you have a soft spot for sweet senior dogs, come meet Cora and see if she’s the companion you’ve been looking for!
