BACKGROUND: Brought in stray by finder on 10/18/26. Noted that dog seemed lost and scared. Finder leashed him, wrapped him in a towel and brought him inside for the night. Noted no issues in the home. Dog was brought to the shelter in a carrier. Given Blue dot on intake. Noted to be scared and avoidant when handling. Staff were able to handle for all intake procedures including vaccines.B SDC note that dog can be very avoidant of handling. Volunteers able to leash, pick up with slow approach and carry dog to outdoor enclosure. Occasionally comes forward to initiate interaction, but retreats. Dog is co-kenneled and attends play group with other small male dogs. Blue for handling. Make available for adoption by appointment only. Consider for Yellow if recommended by volunteers. Dog is timid and fearful, adopter will need to give dog time and space to build confidence. Fearful and avoidant if approached too quickly. Dog's fear and environmental sensitivity may make a home with young children less suitable.B

Description

This dog is available to meet by appointment only.

Angus is a 14-pound, 1-year-old small mixed-breed dog with a medium-length black coat. He can be fearful and avoidant of handling, and leashing can be difficult. Treats and a patient, unhurried approach help him warm up, but he will need time and space to build trust. He shares a kennel and attends playgroups with other small male dogs. Angus needs a patient adopter who understands fearful dogs and is willing to work at his pace. A home without young children would be best

Please submit an adoption questionnaire to meet him.
