Dog-To-Dog Evaluation 10/22/2026
S: Dog-dog evaluation with a female tester dog. Tester dog selected due to her ability to politely greet and not escalate conflict.
O: At the gate, dog was calm and nonreactive. Entered the yard with leash dropped. Dog approached to sniff female tester around the head with loose wagging tail then walked away to put paws up on handler's legs. Bounced around to interact with second handler in the yard. Ears back, lowered tail, and turned away slightly when tester approached to sniff. Began to relax with loose wagging tail and bouncy gait while running alongside tester for a short time.
A: Gentle. Medium Energy, Medium Contact, Neutral Social Dynamic, no Corrections or Conflict observed, Playgroup Size: 2-3.
P: Recommend placement with appropriately matched dogs, or placed as a solo dog with appropriate dog friends.

Handling Eval 10/22/2026
BACKGROUND: Brought in stray by Animal Control on 10/20/26. Given Yellow dot on intake. Staff were able to handle for intake procedures including vaccines. Handling evaluation on 10/22/26.
O: Dog was standing at the front of the kennel with neutral posture and forward pricked ears. Slightly leash avoidant but walked out with verbal encouragement and door open wide. Walked well on leash to the yard, tail down, slightly tucked while walking. Dropped leash in the yard. Dog walked and sniffed around the perimeter of the yard. Urinated and defecated. Approached handler. Responded to verbal cue for sit. Took treats gently. Put paws up on handler while seated. Accepted pets around head, neck, shoulders, chest, and back with soft face and relaxed musculature. Jumped up and down on handler after pause for consent check. Looked at tossed toys but did not follow. Walked well on leash back through the building. Hesitated at the ward door and at the kennel threshold. Followed handler with verbal encouragement. Tried to push back out of the door as handler stepped out. Relaxed for handling around her head while removing slip leash by hand.B B
A: Approaches handler with confidence and shows enjoyment with pets. Appears to have some basic training (walks well on leash and knows sit). Treat motivated and takes treats gently. Did not show interest in toys. Possibly house-trained (eliminates immediately in the yard). Yellow for shelter handling: some jumpy behavior and resists rekenneling. Consider for Green if recommended by volunteers.B
P: Make available for adoption. Recommend adopters continue to work on basic manners (leash skills, recall, sit) using a patient, reward-based training approach. Unknown how this dog may behave around children. Recommend volunteers use treats to build positive association with kenneling.B
