Handling Eval 10/24/2026

BACKGROUND: Brought in stray by finder on 10/22/26. Finder had dog in their home for one night and stated in conversation that dog can escape from wire crates, but is calm and sweet when allowed to stay near people. Given Green dot on intake. Staff were able to handle dog for all intake procedures, including vaccines.B SHELTER HANDLING: Green volunteers have been able to leash, walk, and pet dog during outings with no issues. Dog has been calm and easy to handle on walks. Green for volunteer handling.PLAN: Make available for adoption after stray hold. Potential adopters should be familiar with the characteristics of Husky breed dogs (require regular grooming, tendency to be vocal, jump / dig under fences, potential for prey drive) and be prepared to provide sufficient exercise and enrichment.B

Dog-To-Dog Evaluation 10/23/2026

S: Dog-dog evaluation with a male and female tester dog. Tester dogs selected due to their ability to politely greet and not escalate conflict.

O: At the gate, dog was standing tail, high tail curled over back with some relatively loose short wags, tight mouth, piloerection along spine. Entered yard with leash dropped. Tall posture as male tester approached. Sniffed male tester nose to tail. This dog and male dog circled one another. This dog attempted to mount male tester who was walking away. This dog walked to meet female tester and sniffed nose to tail. Walked away with tall posture and closed mouth. Walked throughout the yard sniffing the ground. Approached male and female testers several times to sniff then walked away. Relaxed with loser body language and open mouth after two minutes in the yard.

A: Independent. Medium Contact, Medium Energy, Neutral-Forward Social Dynamic. no Corrections or Conflict observed. Playgroup Size: 2-3.

P: Recommend placement with appropriately matched dogs, or placed as a solo dog with appropriate dog friends.
